About The Twin

The Twin Doctors

Dr. Jamil Abdur-Rahman (Dr. J) and Dr. Idries Abdur-Rahman (Dr. I) aren’t just co-hosts, each with more than 2 decades of experience practicing medicine. They’re also identical twin brothers from the South Side of Chicago. Being from the South Side of Chicago, they bring a Midwestern approachability mixed with a big city edge. And being identical twins, they bring a famailarity with one and other that allows them to sit down with their guests and have discussions about medicine, health, wellness, and life, that are direct, honest, and unguarded. Board-certified OB/GYNs, the brothers built a successful private practice before stepping into media, where they have over 400 medical expert television credits to their name. Dr. J and Dr. I built The Twin Doctors media brand on a simple concept: health, wellness, medicine and humanity are better understood as part of a conversation rather than a lecture.

Dr. Jamil Abdur-Rahman

Dr. Jamil Abdur-Rahman (Dr. J) brings more than 20 years of clinical experience as a board-certified OB/GYN. He built his career around caring for women and helping to ensure maternal health equity. After 2 decades in private practice, Dr. J decided to step away from the traditional model of healthcare delivery to pursue a more integrated approach to health and wellness—one that treats physical, emotional, and spiritual health as parts of the same whole, rather than as separate entities. A retired Captain in the U.S. Army Reserves, a licensed private pilot and a father, Dr. J continues to practice medicine part-time in California and Illinois as he and his brother also work to build The Twin Doctors’ media brand.

Dr. Idries Abdur-Rahman

Dr. Idries Abdur-Rahman (Dr. I), an aviation lover, avid traveller and father is Jamil’s twin brother, creative partner, and the other half of The Twin Doctors. A board-certified OB/GYN with the same two-decades-deep clinical background, Dr. I has always believes that patients deserve more than just a diagnosis. That they also deserve conversations and the kind of open, unhurried explanations that modern medical practice rarely prioritizes or leaves room for. Dr. I brings the drive to make knowledge land with people who may feel disenfranchised by, or fearful of the medical establishment, translating years of hands-on medicine into content that’s honest, human, and genuinely useful.
